National Dog Day is August 26th! This day was created to honor “man’s best friend”, the lovable dog. Dogs make great pets and many of them are looking for a good home. From support dogs that help the disabled, to the dogs that support law enforcement officers, to the bush dogs of South and Central America- we salute you!
March 1 is National Pig Day! This event was started in 1972 to honor the pig as one of the most intelligent animals on earth. Many pigs are smarter than dogs and even a three year old child!

March 23rd is National Puppy Day! This special day was first celebrated in 2006 and raises awareness of the puppies worldwide that need a home. Got room at home for an adorable pet? Rescue a puppy at a local animal shelter! For more information on National Puppy Day, visit the official site.
April 2nd is National Ferret Day! On this day, we honor the domesticated ferret. Ferrets have a lifespan of 7-10 years and a group of ferrets is called a “business”.

April 8th is National Zoo Lovers Day! This day is set aside to celebrate all of the animals that you find at the zoo. April 14th is National Dolphin Day! This day is dedicated to appreciating these highly intelligent marine mammals. Some fun facts about dolphins:
- Dolphins have built in sonar.
- Dolphins are born tail first.
- Dolphins use whistles to communicate with each other.
- The Bottlenose dolphin is one of the smartest animals on earth.
